Gong is good to keep track of important conversations happening in your organization. We use Gong to keep product teams in the know of important account changes. We have our sales team using the product and it has been great to share snippets of those using our sales methodology and for keeping managers informed. It is common for us to share snippets with other internal users and our customers. It has been a bit clunky to learn and gain full adoption, but those who do state that they get a lot of value out of the automated notetaking and being able to see all the related account emails in one place. Deal boards are quite tough for our sales structure, but look as though they are a great fit for many SAAS companies.
  • Recording Calls and Emails automatically
  • Customer Service
  • Conversation feed
  • Deal Boards for more complex sales
  • better transcriptions
  • Improved automation for coaching and reviews
I think Gong would be great for companies with younger associates or subscription related services. I have found it to be valuable for training sessions to provide to customers after the call. I do wish I could filter the feed by internal and external calls, but if you are a seller using this strictly for customer calls it would be a great fit.

Gong.io is used across our whole organization. It allows new employees to pick up our wording, best and worst-case practices without piling up on everyone's calendar. It allows team leads and managers to look at call data and pinpoint places to improve quickly. Most importantly, it allows reps to keep up with their pipeline and see where potential deals went. When it comes time to apply for a promotion, this is the resource that gets our employees there.
  • Call statistics (how much rep talked vs customer)
  • Catching forbidden words
  • Filtering calls for easy reporting
  • Summarizing calls for follow ups
  • More monthly automated reporting options
  • Integration and call recordings appearing faster
  • Sending automated updates on deals based on call sentiment
Easy to use, helps every employee in the company from new hire to the most senior employee. Every sales organization needs this to help make sales reps better. The statistics breakdown of each call is very helpful for managers who can use this during feedback talks. It is truly suited for each stage of the sales cycle.

We used it both to understand promises made during the sales process and to train CSMs on the conversations we were having with customers. It also has been helpful to recall promises made during calls during business reviews. The primary users were managers of CSMs in their effort to provide regular feedback and coaching to their CSMs by revisiting calls with them.

Gong is primarily built for Sales teams. We were able to use it well enough for our Customer Success team, but there is definitely significant focus on closing deals and some of the verbiage doesn't align super well with Customer Success needs and focuses. Nonetheless, its primary ability to record and analyze call data is helpful for any customer facing team that wants to improve their calls.

I use Gong for call recording, call analytics, note taking, thematic analysis, pipeline review, and more. The main thing I use Gong for is call recordings and note taking. It allows me to spend more time face to face with the customer, and listen to the call later for notes. From there, I share the recording with the prospect for them to have. I also use Gong for pipeline management
  • Call analytics
  • Pipeline Management
  • Recommendations
  • Honestly, can't think of one thing Gong is missing
Gong is well suited for any customer facing employee that has conversations over video chat. Not only does it record the call, it analyzes the call for key words, topics, themes, etc.. It makes it easier as you don't have to take notes while you are talking, being more present for the customer.

I use Gong to analyze other teammates' calls to be informed about movement with prospects. I also receive constructive feedback from my manager about my Gong calls.
  • Analyzing the percentage of time you're talking vs the prospect.
  • Transcribing the dialect into easy-to-read, follow-along captions.
  • Easily finding teammates, Gong calls.
  • Making the dashboard more simplified; it's a little busy.
  • Better organization within your Team's calls.
  • Maybe highlight key takeaways with the AI.
Gong is well suited for constructive feedback from team members. Scenarios, where it is less appropriate, are monitoring employees to a point where calls are strained from being "watched".

We use Gong to record our calls, both internal and external. For internal calls, we will record important meetings that not everyone can attend, so that they can go back and listen to it later. This allows us to have time-sensitive meetings even when someone is out. For external calls, we record everything (with permission). This helps out tremendously with training as there is a library of calls to go through with examples of almost every outcome possible. New hires will be able to hear how pitch calls go and how to handle certain issues that may come up. It also allows us to not be caught up with taking notes on the calls and be present, since you can just look up important details and topics mentioned after the call.
  • The transcript feature is handy and mostly very accurate
  • It allows you to organize calls in the way that you want (by topic, by outcome, by step, etc.)
  • It is able to be integrated with the tools that we use
  • The transcript isn't perfect, but you can determine where you need to listen to from it
  • The search feature could be improved, sometimes it is hard to find a specific call if what you searched isn't in the title
It is an awesome recording app which allows you to record conversations in real time. This is very helpful when you do not have the time to take detailed notes or you want to feel present in the conversation. A time it is less appropriate are for routine internal calls of smaller importance or 1:1s where you would not want the whole company to see/hear what was said.

We used Gong for sales call data. Allowing us to understand in-depth metrics of each call, as well as using the tool for training purposes for new hires. It also allowed us to compile a list of calls we found to be useful to sure with those who were unable to attend, wether that be internal or external.
  • Insight into Call metrics like talk time for each attendee
  • Deal insights
  • Ability to easily share the call recording internally and with individuals outside the organization
  • Video analyzation sometimes takes a little long
Gong is great for Sales teams, especially remote teams. It allows for your team to easily view calls from colleagues that help in both training and overall understanding. I personally found it most useful as I joined the team, as it let me listen in on a wide-variety of calls.

We didn't have a proper onboarding program, and they were implementing it as part of our training program - we were the first batch of salespeople to use this method of onboarding and training.
On top of that, we utilize it as quality control. It was always awkward and difficult to schedule a sales session with the managers (2 managers, 18 salespeople), so using gong allows us to get quality feedback.
  • Recommendations to improve (silence time, speaking ratio, etc.)
  • Source of absolute truth! So easy to see what meetings have been done, and how it was done. No more he says she says
  • Transcription - it has been accurate, and helps when trying to learn how to handle rejections
  • At the time, there weren't a lot of integrations yet.
  • You still need to tell users recording is in session to be GDPR friendly - wish there was a better way to do this
Appropriate when:
There's some kind of repetition and success formula that you're trying to find out. You have a big team, and you're trying to find something that works. Then gong will be helpful. In my experience, B2B SaaS will almost always benefit from it.

Less well suited when:
You're making big deals over a small number of very specific clients. I worked for a little bit in government and oil&gas deals, and everything in each deal varies wildly - can't see gong being that big of a help here.

My role within the organization is to lead a sales team and Gong is leveraged primarily for training purposes of my team. Gong enables me to review my teams calls, provide instant feedback and direction which can be instantly implemented. We can also search for key elements within a call for review and discussion for ongoing training purposes. It also gives me the ability to share good practices with the team and ask questions or feedback on my own calls on occasions I am looking for some guidance or advice on a customer.
  • Training
  • Call reviews
  • Key word or specific details are easy to find
  • Better AI for certain words
  • Missing technology terms
  • The tool is almost perfect!
I think in any sales scenario, as you can learn multiple things from the tool, whether for the sales representatives or the managers themselves. It brings to light a lot of discussions that most other team members were not aware of prior to being able to leverage Gong. It now enables you to listen to colleagues calls, who are successful and learn from your own team. Only place where it may not be appropriate would be for non-performance related roles.

Gong is used for coaching and development. The technology helps the team with balanced dialogues, reduce repetitiveness, and capitalize on behaviors that drive sales. We also communicate with clients who are interested in recordings of demos. It is so professionally presented and just makes you look good.
  • First and foremost, their support is second to none! They are knowledgeable and eager to help. They help to get the best out of the system.
  • The AI recommendations based on the data in the system as a whole is immeasurable! Very helpful!
  • Points of interest, keys right into the areas of strength and opportunity.
  • The transcriptions can rarely just be read without listening to the call. They don't capture what was said all of the time. It can be frustrated the tech can't even identify your own company name in the transcript.
  • There are moments at the beginning of calls while you wait for everyone to jump on. It would be nice to delete (as an admin) the portions of the call that are not specific to the call itself....like small talk before on inter office talk about different accounts.
Anyone making sales calls needs Gong, full stop.

Gong has helped our team increase our accuracy, keep better track of large pipelines, and close deals faster. It's a tool that I would REQUIRE for any future employer to have if they except to attract great sales talent.
  • Pipeline Management
  • Data Syncing to Salesforce
  • Upload speed can be slow following a call
Gong has saved multiples deals for us (both by keeping reps on top of activity and also by allowing us to leverage data and insights from the call like competitors, budget, timelines, etc.

1) Segmenting calls by source, e.g., demo meetings in Google meet and cold calls in Outreach dialler. This allows me to give specific feedback and also see what is happening and where (BUSINESS PROBLEM: Lead Gen Feedback for reps)

2) Use call scorecards to track feedback given to BD reps by AEs and measure the improvement in demo quality, as well as see where the gaps are. This can inform decisions I take on training for reps and close the gaps in rep acumen. (BUSINESS PROBLEM: Demo quality and business acumen for junior reps)

3) For key customers, it's been valuable to share recordings both internally and externally so that technical resources are allocated, use cases are fully discovered, and the customer also doesn't need to sit through the same call twice. (BUSINESS PROBLEMS: Understanding customer use cases, speed of customer sales cycle, and also internal resource allocation)

4) Use Gong to see how many touches prospects are receiving and also look at the hand-off point for sales qualified opportunities. It is also useful to compare inbound vs. outbound sales (BUSINESS PROBLEM: Follow-up speeds and hand-offs for SDRs)
  • Call recording: you can see a transcript and also set-up trackers for keywords like competitor names being mentioned.
  • Active conversations in accounts: I get email reports on all active conversations that have happened with Gong so I can see across the Global team what meetings the team are having and make sure we are coordinated on large strategic accounts.
  • Call sharing/collaboration: the native integration with Slack means I can tag and talk to my team about calls via slack messages, and then the conversation will still appear in Gong and vice versa. This helps my team receive feedback where they are working and removes the need to check Gong to see if there is feedback there. This helps reduce tech fatigue.
  • Gong sometimes features dumps: There are a lot of ways to use it, and it is definitely more than just call recording software, but sometimes it's overwhelming on where to start, what to measure and how long to spend on the solution.
  • It can be a little tedious opening calls in multiple windows, and it would be much nicer if they have a show reel feature so you could get through calls fast
  • Occasionally when I try to record internal calls for Gong, it can start recording late: e.g. not until I start screensharing.
Gong is well suited when you have a team handling multiple types of calls both in terms of meetings vs cold calls as well as platforms, e.g., Google Meet, Teams, and Outreach/Salesloft. It is good for orgs where they need to build out sales enablement fast - as you can create libraries of similar calls focused on a specific use case. It is also good for orgs that are scaling and finding their product fit or adapting to the market - since non client facing teams like product and engineering can also hear what the customers are saying via keyword matches, without needing to watch whole calls or attend.

It is not so well suited to teams in orgs where you have all reps using the same script, know your customer inside out and have everyone doing exactly the same thing. As in this scenario, it is quite expensive. If everyone is already rowing in the same direction for the company - it's perhaps not so essential.

Gong is a fantastic tool for training purposes, being able to improve on closing methods, and coming back to the call for key points of interest to drive follow-ups and proposals. We also use it to keep track of deals and pipe health which has been incredibly helpful.
  • Ease of use.
  • Robust
  • Educational in the sense that it allows you to watch teammates' calls and obtain best practices.
  • Some things are a bit clunky.
  • Wish the keyword insight pickup was a little better/more detailed.
  • Not really sure how to leverage all the features.
Gong is really a fantastic tool for sales teams. Especially when someone new comes on board, to be able to watch different styles of calls is extremely useful and even for seasoned reps for areas of improvement. Also, as sales reps become busier with calls, it's often impossible to keep track of all the key points, so being able to go back and review the call has made a world of difference. I wouldn't recommend this tool if you're not a customer-centric focused organization.

I use Gong to track and organize follow-ups for my customer calls (QBR's). I meet with my customers regularly to deliver results and ROI as well as to have strategy meetings to drive adoption and ROI for my customers. I like that Gong keeps a transcript of the call so that I can easily use "control F" to go back later and look for something a customer said. I also recently realized that you can take notes in a Zoom call within the Gong app, which is nice in general but it is not able to be exported or downloaded which is a bummer. Overall I love having Gong as a resource so that I don't have to stress about trying to remember something I said I'd own as a follow up, or something specific a customer mentioned in one of our meetings. I can also send snippets of calls to other team members which is great for when I need to loop in technical support to help with something a customer mentioned. Gong also was key for me as a new hire so I could see how my colleagues presented their QBR's to their customers and I could use their presentations to help form my own talk track.
  • Makes call follow up easy
  • Keeps a transcript of the conversation
  • Allows you to learn from others' call recordings
  • Notes in app - there needs to be an option to download your notes or a better formatted copy/paste for this function.
  • Transcript - make this downloadable so it can be copied/pasted/reformatted for CSM's who have to input notes into other systems.
As a CSM, Gong is great to use for customer meeting follow-up. I can go in and easily find what I said I'd do as a "follow up" - and it highlights those key words, so I've gotten into a habit of verbally saying certain phrases like "I'll send that over" or "I'll follow up" so that when I review the call in Gong later, those things will be bolded for me to easily find. Taking notes within the Gong app in Zoom has helped me avoid taking notes in a Word doc while facilitating a meeting. However there isn't an option to download the notes and the copy and paste formatting is not great (as a CSM I have to input notes into systems like Gainsight, so improving this workflow for users would be amazing!) I used gong heavily as a new hire to watch other Customer Success Managers present data and I was able to get insight from those on forming my own talk track. You can make comments on Gong calls including hashtags for easy reference later, and you can tag in teammates in call notes to easily transition off a follow-up to someone else. Gong is great for practicing and recording yourself presenting so you can review yourself and make recommendations. Your manager can also show you some data in Gong about how often you interrupt someone, how "patient" you are waiting for a response from someone else, and the balance between you and another person in calls. I found this data really insightful as I'm always trying to improve my presentation skills. Gong has a transcript of each call which I find to be really helpful but I wish you could download it and/or reformat it. It is handy though to use with "control F" if you're looking for something specific.

I use Gong on a daily basis making up to 30 to 35 calls per day. Gong records my calls and this gives me the ability to review the calls for not only training but to follow up on the conversation on notes that I may have missed during the call. Gong, Hub Spot and Linkedin are the three most important tools I use on a daily basis.
  • Records my calls.
  • Gives me a daily list of the previous days calls.
  • Gives my supervisors the ability to listen to my calls and give me feedback on the calls to help me improve my skills.
  • The bad side it does not record all calls, states that you have to tell customers first that they are being recorded makes it impossible to record because my company does not want us to ask the customer so those conversations aren't recorded.
  • Ability to record calls to states that require you to inform customers that it is being record without having to start a conversation with getting approval first.
  • Ability to review the calls as soon as the conversation ends.
  • Ideas about all the features so I can better understand how I may be able to utilize all the resources Gong has to offer.
On cold calls it helps to see what works and what doesn't and how to improve my cold calling techniques. It helps when a question is brought to my attention from the person I called and they feel I may have said something that was false, misleading or profane. We can review the call and determine if it's true or incorrect.

We use Gong right across our organisation, but the main place it's used is in our Sales. The first exposure any rep gets to Gong is during onboarding, as we have created best practice libraries for them to see and understand what best-in-class looks like for our sales calls. After that, our managers use Gong to coach and provide feedback to reps on the score and give comments on a minimum of one call per week per rep.

Gong allows us to know what reps and clients are actually saying, allows our product marketing team to get insights on features our prospects want to see, and also helps bolster our competitive analysis
  • Allows our sales leadership to coach our sales team
  • Helps new reps ramp up faster
  • Allows our marketing insights into what clients and prospects are saying
  • I am pretty happy with Gong overall, but the facility to make calls private can be a little cumbersome at times
If you have a scaling sales team, then Gong is the perfect partner in that scaling motion, as it allows you to know exactly what is being said, pressure test your GTM strategy, and your product market fit. For example, when our messaging shifted during the pandemic, using Gong allowed us to measure whether reps were adopting the new messaging quickly and to highlight high-performing reps by sharing call snippets, etc.

I rely on Gong when building an understanding of the voice of the customer, digging into nuances in terms of customer pain points, and getting clarity around messaging tactics used by our sales team that applies pressure on the ways in which our solutions address those customer pain points. For me, consistency in message and tone of voice spans across marketing materials and includes the tone and messages used by our sales team. I'd be lost without the insights Gong provides.
  • Ease of use
  • Sometimes the search functionality is a little finnicky
I think Gong can be valuable across all functions and departments. Staying in touch with customers and prospects is central to organizational success and ensuring your company and product are valuable in changing landscapes.

Gong is a tool that my organization uses to review calls with any clients or training and for employees to refer back to the call to specifically take notes or go through what could have made the call better. It's a great tool that helps to assist in note-taking as during calls, almost 99% of the time, there will be some important notes that we may have missed out. My organization has a monthly review on calls of a specific individual with the team to share the good points and areas that could be improved during a sales call.
  • Transcribing the call into words
  • Automatic upload
  • Ease of reviewing
  • Ease of sharing internally or externally
  • Transcribing as sometimes Gong was not accurate in what was the actual words mentioned
  • A pin video option for the whole organization to see (EG. Best sales calls) so that people can easily refer back to it.
I would recommend it to a colleague because it really helps in our day to day responsibilities, especially if we have to speak to multiple clients in a day, it helps to refer back to it to check if we have missed out any important notes mentioned by the client and even share it with the team to get their thoughts on how the call went.

I use Gong every day to help me understand my current opportunities and get better at selling. After I have a call I will review it (on 2X speed of course) to see if I can catch anything that I may have missed the first time. I then use it to create snippets to send to the sales engineer so he understands anything he needs as we move forward in the opportunity. Sometimes I even use it to send the call recording to others in my prospect's org so they can have a good understanding of the conversation. The email reminders to keep up with deals are huge and super helpful in keeping me in check with my opportunities. The review tools are also awesome, I love to @ my manager when I need help refining something or when I want someone else in my org to see something/give some guidance.
  • Call sharing with snippets and tags
  • Opportunity reminders to keep you up to date on deals and send follow ups
  • Understanding the health of an opportunity and the communications that have taken place
  • Searching for companies can sometimes be confusing
  • The UI in a company page takes me a minute to understand what I'm looking at
If you're a seller you need Gong. Being able to pick apart calls, understand how long you spoke, and see transcripts are so huge. You can easily get feedback and share recordings across the org and with your prospects. The tool is an integral part of my success on a daily basis.

- Note-taking for review - understanding client problems better to explain internally in order to come up with fitting solutions - Training - understanding how I can improve my meetings. Discovery questions, mirroring/matching client, filler words -Tracking deals - seeing what my pipeline is looking like and staying on top of it
  • Tracking deals from salesforce
  • Note taking
  • Reviewing calls for training
  • Deal tracker can be buggy
  • Note taker takes a while to join meetings sometimes
  • UI for deal tracking can take some time getting used to
As a new account executive, Gong was helpful in keeping track of training calls for review later. During ramp-up, Gong was helpful in listening to senior account executive calls to get familiar with organizing and conducting meetings. Gong has been a game-changer, not only in staying organized with my customer and being thorough in follow-up -- it's also helped me be more mindful of gaps I might have in the deal so that I can be more intentional about covering those bases.
  • Call follow up notes and action items
  • Call reviews for coaching and professional development
  • Intelligence on being single threaded and providing some proactive warning signs in the deal
  • The dictation of conversation to a written summary is off and could be improved
  • Less of an improvement and more of an opportunity -- capturing key goals or moments during discovery and providing bullets of those items for more streamlined follow up would be extremely helpful on a day where you're back to back in meetings and catching up on notes later in the evening.
Great for sales teams and can be used across the org in CS, Marketing and Product as well.

Gong is what we use to record customer conversations. There are several aspects to my business with clients that necessitate the usage of call recordings to ensure that my actions are correct and that customers' important terms are being properly spelled in my conversations. In many cases, we are able to get amazing remarks about our product from our phone conversations. Each user will be able to hear previous calls in order to enhance their delivery and strategies, as well as to learn what to avoid.
  • Take notes during discovery calls and demos.
  • Transcribe and analyze phone calls.
  • Easily exchange information with other teams and customers.
  • A more precise evaluation based on the recordings.
  • Improved homepage navigation.
  • En hanced reporting.
Gong is ideal for sales conversations in which a wide range of products or services are addressed. When speaking with clients who have thick accents, this feature comes in handy for double-checking our understanding of what they've said the first time. Using Gong to examine demonstrations and conduct discovery calls is an excellent choice. This is the product's strongest suit. For the time being, the platform participates in calls with a decent degree of success. A great tool for team collaboration.

We use Gong to record demos and discovery calls and gain insight into our sales activities. Being a remote sales team, Gong allows us insight into the entire sales organization. Managers use Gong to review calls and offer suggestions. Team members use Gong to pick up best techniques from other teammates.
  • Record demos and discovery calls
  • Analyze and transcribe calls
  • Share call recordings
  • More accurate analysis from recordings
  • Easier navigation on homepage
  • Better reporting
Gong is very well suited for reviewing demos and discovery calls. This is the strongest aspect of the product. The platform joins calls with reasonable successes for future review. Very easy to share with the team.

I have found it a little difficult to gain macro-level insight into their reporting. It might be the qualitative nature of the data, but such reporting is better suited for Salesforce

Gong allows us a standard platform to gather conversation sentiment as well as track specific feedback without having to bug the person that conducted the call. It allows a perfect way to coach as well as have built-in training material for new reps and hires. Really helps with the sales process without having to manually document.
  • Recording calls
  • Tracking feedback and key words
  • Visibility into deals to look for risk with no activity or single threaded activity
  • Perhaps storing the link to calls and creating an activity in Salesforce automatically. Ie passing info back to CRM
Customer Success, Demos, and Product discussions. Contract calls are a no-go. Lawyers don't like being recorded.
